JODIE HARRISON BASKETBALL LEAGUE
2nd Grade – 8th Grade
The tradition of Jodie Harrison basketball is one that families look forward to as winter approaches. With the help of Breakaway Basketball, our recreation league is open to 2nd – 8th graders, focusing on instruction and helping kids learn and enjoy the game of basketball. All players will receive a t-shirt or jersey (5th and up receive shorts), all 2nd/3rd graders receive a medal, and 4th-8th grade top 2 teams receive trophies. One practice and game per week commitment.

Team Selection
While we encourage a competitive spirit in all players and coaches, all league decisions are made with the best interest of the majority of children involved. We do make every attempt to place children on a team with at least some of their schoolmates. The Recreation Supervisor will be responsible for selecting all teams and all final team placement decisions. We do not guarantee any coach, team, friend or practice time requests.
Teams will be constructed using the following criteria:
- School attending
- # of boys and girls per team (while taking school into consideration)
- Having a volunteer coach from your child’s school gives the Recreation Supervisor thebest opportunity to keep more children from your child’s school together.
- We do not split 1 or 2 children from their school unless requested by parents. The lowest split and is considered being with some children from your child’s school is 3 children from the same school.
2nd-3rd Grade Teams:
We always place 2nd and 3rd graders on a team based only on their school but not all kids from the same school will be on the same team. In an attempt to create even rosters and ensure all kids have classmates from their schools, there is a high chance schools will be split between two or more teams.
